Iowa Leadership Exchange

The second-annual Rural Leadership Exchange is an educational event held to bolster existing rural leadership programs and support a statewide network of program leaders. The event is designed for existing rural leadership program directors and managers to share best practices for expanding, renewing and improving existing programs. Additionally, communities or organizations interested in starting their own programs are welcome to attend and learn from statewide experts. View the Conference Agenda

The one-day event at Legacy Plaza in Newton, Iowa, will kickoff at 10 a.m. on October 26 and features strategies for elevating local leadership, roundtable discussions on alumni engagement and measures of success, and will be capped off with an evening event spotlighting stories of leadership from across the state.

The agenda kicks off with an opening keynote by Iowa Economic Development Authority and Iowa Finance Authority Executive Director Debi Durham to set the stage for discussions on leaderships trends, successes and challenges across the state. In addition to multiple opportunities for small group breakouts, attendees will also hear from Lt. Governor Adam Gregg, chair of the Governor’s Empower Rural Iowa Initiative, and Jessi Steward McQuerrey, director of Programs at ABI Foundation.

Finally, all participants are encouraged to attend the Exchanging Excellence evening reception from 6-8:30 p.m. for storytelling tales of leadership, lore and learning, in partnership with Tina Bakehouse, Gezellig Brewing Co and Legacy Plaza.
