$150,000 in CAT Grant Awarded to Rock Valley

April 12, 2018 (Des Moines) – The Enhance Iowa Board awarded a $150,000 Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) grant to an event center in Rock Valley. The Enhance Iowa Board approved the award at yesterday’s meeting in Sheldon.

The following projects were approved for grants awarded from the Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) Fund:

Project Name: Rock Valley Event Center, Rock Valley
Total Project Cost:  $1,817,162
Amount Requested:  $232,863
Amount Awarded:  $150,000
Project Description:  The new event center will occupy part of a former manufacturing building and accommodate 400 people. A new entry will be added, exterior brick repointed and damaged bricks replaced. Both mechanical and electrical systems will be updated.

The Enhance Iowa Program provides financial incentives to communities for the construction of recreational, cultural, educational or entertainment facilities that enhance the quality of life in Iowa. To date, 32 CAT awards have been granted by the board, totaling $10,508,802. The next Enhance Iowa Board meeting is scheduled for May 9, 2018, in Urbandale.
