Enhance Iowa board awards baseball/softball complex tax rebate
December 12, 2018 (Des Moines) – The Enhance Iowa Board made an award from the Baseball and Softball Complex Sales Tax Rebate program to Prospect Meadows in Marion. This award was approved at today’s meeting in Urbandale.
The Baseball and Softball Complex Sales Tax Rebate program was established by the Iowa legislature in 2016. Applicants must own and operate a baseball or softball complex with a construction cost of at least $10 million. The rebate comes from sales of admission tickets, merchandise and other goods sold at the complex and is effective for up to 10 years or until the award amount is reached.
The following project was approved for a Baseball and Softball Complex Sales Tax Rebate:
Project Name: Prospect Meadows Ball Fields, Marion
Total Project Cost: $15,183,000
Rebate Requested: $2,500,000
Rebate Amount: $2,500,000
Project Description: Prospect Meadows consists of 17 baseball and softball fields of various sizes, to accommodate various skill and age levels of play. The complex also includes a Miracle League field. Other features include a lake, wetland, two acres of flowers and native grasses, concession stands, restrooms, play areas and trails. Prospect Meadows is anticipated to open Spring 2019.
The next Enhance Iowa Board meeting is scheduled for January 9, 2019, in Urbandale.
