New Iowa Wine and Beer directory, updated app available

January 9, 2017 (Des Moines, IA) – The newest Iowa Wine and Beer directory includes listings for 86 wineries, 79 breweries and 11 distilleries across the state. The 175 directory listings represent a 10 percent increase over the previous edition released in 2015.

“We’ve seen tremendous growth in Iowa’s craft breweries,” said Jenna Beary of the Iowa Wine and Promotion Board. “This directory includes 15 more breweries than the last one and six new beer trails. We’ve also added an additional wine trail.”

The Iowa Wine and Beer App is another resource for finding wineries, breweries and distilleries. Recently updated, the free app includes photos, maps and a search function to find locations near the user.

“The directory and app are great ways for travelers to source out local wine, beer and spirits,” said Beary. “All three industries are important to the state’s economy. Studies show craft beer has an economic impact of $100 million, and the wine industry tops $420 million.”

The Iowa Wine and Beer Directory is available at any Iowa Welcome Center or for order online at The app is available for free on iOs and Android devices.

Both are produced by the Iowa Wine and Beer Promotion Board, an organization created in 1986 to promote the state’s wine and beer making industries. Learn more at
