Iowa: No. 1 State in the Country
Iowa was named the top state in the country by U.S. News & World Report in 2018. What goes in to those rankings? Continue reading below to learn more about why Iowa is the best state in the nation.
Iowa is the only state that ranks in the top 10 in both higher education and Pre-K-12. Iowa’s education system has long been a source of pride in the state. Businesses in Iowa benefit from quality, research-driven universities and a grade school system making strides in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education.
It’s easier in Iowa than in most of the country to accomplish the common American dream of buying a home. We’re ranked second in the country in housing affordability. This ranking considered the state’s median home prices, median family incomes and mortgage rates. Not only are houses affordable, they’re also priced low compared to Iowans’ median incomes.
Iowa is also first among states in “ultra-fast” internet access. This means a higher percentage of Iowans have access to broadband internet with speeds greater than one gigabit per second than residents of any other state.
