Targeted Small Business Program Adds 400+ New Members

Due to the impact of COVID-19, Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) created a grant opportunity specifically for sole proprietors who were also eligible to become certified through the Targeted Small Business (TSB) program.
As a result, IEDA received over 3,000 applications for TSB certification. The initiative resulted in over 364 businesses receiving grants totaling slightly over $600,000 and being added to the Targeted Small Business program.
In total, during the first six months of 2020, 403 new businesses have become Targeted Small Businesses. The TSB Directory now features 863 Iowa small businesses.

Black Iowa Business Directory
The Des Moines-based Director’s Council and the Financial Empowerment Center are taking applications to launch the Black Iowa Business Directory, an online platform allowing Black-owned businesses to list themselves for more visibility and to allow customers to search for Black-owned products and services.
Business owners can apply to be listed online. Please note: This Directory is a self-identification directory and separate from the Targeted Small Business Directory. To continue to be eligible for State of Iowa procurement, TSB certification is required.
