Presented by Mr. Mike Allocca, Allocca Enterprises
On July 1, 2020, the U.S. – Mexico – Canada Agreement (USMCA) went into effect and replaced the 25-year-old North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). The new agreement opens opportunities for U.S. companies to export and sell to Mexico and Canada and works to decrease or eliminate tariff costs of production and trade, which ultimately can lower retail prices for consumers and increase profits for companies.
The IEDA International Trade Office (ITO) was excited to bring Mike Allocca of Allocca Enterprises back to Iowa virtually for a 2-hour webinar focused on the USMCA on February 10, 2021. Mr. Allocca is a nationally known expert in international trade compliance, logistics, and free trade agreements. The webinar helped Iowa companies understand the changes from NAFTA and how to determine the eligibility of their goods and comply with the specifics of the USMCA.
The ITO was able to provide this training free of charge to Iowa companies and entities due to Small Business Administration (SBA) STEP (State Trade Expansion Program) grant funding. We look forward to providing additional education opportunities under the STEP program in the future.
