REPORTS
Tourism Report
Ms. O’Riley gave an update on the “Year of the Road Tip” marketing campaign. The Year of the Road Trip campaign launched in early July with a giveaway of nearly 1,000 $25 gift cards. Weekly $200 gift card drawings continue through August. To be eligible to win, travelers just need to create a custom itinerary using the Build a Trip tool on traveliowa.com.
The Iowa Tourism Office is working to create a five-year strategic plan for Iowa's tourism industry that will help us build a vibrant, sustainable and growing tourism industry in all corners of the state. Working groups of industry partners have been created to assist in the plan’s development. Thanks to Mary Wells for her participation on the programming working group.
Passport program participation remains strong. We’re working toward launching an agritourism passport with the Midwest Dairy Association that will also include apple orchards and pumpkin patches this September.
Legal Report
Ms. Connell gave an update on the Sports Tourism program that has been funded and will be under the direction of the Enhance Iowa Board. Rules are currently being evaluated and will be coming to the board for review and amendment in the future.
