Rural Leadership Exchange 2022

October 20, 2022
Carrollton Inn - 1730 US-71 North, Carroll, IA 51401

The third-annual Rural Leadership Exchange is an educational event held to bolster existing rural leadership programs and support a statewide network of program leaders. The event is designed for existing rural leadership program directors and managers to share best practices for expanding, renewing and improving existing programs. Additionally, communities or organizations interested in starting their own programs are welcome to attend and learn from statewide experts.

The one-day event at Carrollton Inn in Carroll, Iowa, will kick off at 10 a.m. on October 20 and features strategies for elevating local leadership, roundtable discussions on alumni engagement and measures of success, and will be capped off with an evening event spotlighting stories of leadership from across the state.

The agenda starts with an opening keynote by Aaron Thomas from Parkersburg, Iowa to set the stage for discussions on leaderships through adversity and how one person can make a difference. In addition to multiple opportunities for small group breakouts, attendees will also hear from Lt. Governor Adam Gregg, chair of the Governor's Empower Rural Iowa Initiative, and share their spotlight successes during a round-robin lunch discussion.

Finally, all participants are encouraged to attend the Exchanging Excellence evening reception from 5-8 p.m. for storytelling tales of leadership, lore and learning, hosted by Jim Thompson of the Iowa Downtown Resource Center and Jessi Steward McQuerrey, Director of Programs at ABI Foundation.
