The publication includes features on new events and attractions for 2024, a birding guide from local experts, the best stargazing spots, nostalgic soda fountains, flower farms, multiple bike trip ideas, quirky museum artifacts and hiking trails paired with nearby wineries, breweries or distilleries. The guide also contains suggested attractions, events, lodging properties, restaurants and an itinerary for each of the five travel areas as well as campground listings. The cover features the Arnolds Park lakeshore area on Lake Okoboji.
“We’re continuing to see strong demand for travel,” said Amy Zeigler, state tourism manager for the Iowa Tourism Office. “Recent research shows 85% of American travelers have high levels of excitement for travel this year and more than half intend to make travel spending a priority in the next three months. The new Iowa Travel Guide provides valuable trip inspiration as people make their travel plans.”
The Iowa Tourism Office, part of the Iowa Economic Development Authority, works closely with community partners, attractions and events, to promote the state’s beautifully vast scenery and unique history. Tourism in Iowa generated $6.9 billion in expenditures in 2022, with more than $1.1 billion supporting state and local governments, while employing a total of 68,607 people statewide.
