International Marketing – Intern Position
The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) iowaeda.com/international-trade and Food Export Association of the Midwest foodexport.org are seeking a student intern to join our team of industry trade experts for a flexible and business-driven experience.This paid International Marketing Intern position will be an independent contractor of the Food Export Association of the Midwest located in Chicago, but housed at, and supervised by, the IEDA International Trade Office in Des Moines.
Duties are focused around food and agriculture exports and include but are not limited to: Research and identify potential exporters, as well as updating current databases of companies. Assist in recruiting, organizing, planning, and executing export related events/activities. Conduct research and create reports on products or markets related to state sector interests. Collect evaluation forms and generate success stories from Iowa companies that have participated in Food Export activities.
This is a part time internship opportunity at a salary of $15.00/hour. The schedule is flexible depending on the candidate’s availability and IEDA needs, with a desired start date in January 2024 for approx. 15 hours per week during spring semester 2024, with an option for continuation in a following academic calendar semester.
Applicant must be enrolled in a post-secondary educational degree program with at least six months remaining until graduation, and a U.S. citizen. Students should have a strong interest in international business and agriculture and be seeking undergraduate or graduate degrees in international, marketing, communications or agricultural fields are preferred.
Requirements: Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work; Verbal and written communication skills, comfortable with e-mail communication and cold calling; Ability to provide excellent customer service to a wide range of Iowa companies and producers; Ability to organize and implement programs and services; Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and Internet research; Valid driver’s license and own means of transportation.
