It’s Been a Year…

This time last year Iowa Economic Development Authority’s (IEDA) Targeted Small Business (TSB) staff were busy processing grant applications for the Targeted Small Business Grant Program and trying to share as many resources as possible to small business owners who dealt with the overwhelming aspects of trying to keep their doors open and businesses afloat amidst the impacts of COVID-19.

The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) is a loan designed to provide a direct incentive for small businesses to keep their workers on payroll. Borrowers may be eligible for PPP loan forgiveness.

Partnerships Supporting Diverse Businesses

The Des Moines-based Director’s Council and the Financial Empowerment Center are taking applications to launch the Black Iowa Business Directory, an online platform allowing Black-owned businesses to list themselves for more visibility and allowing customers to search for Black-owned products and services.

Recognizing small businesses have been impacted by less foot traffic due to COVID, IEDA launched the ShopIowa.com marketplace to help keep small brick and mortar businesses afloat by serving as an online shopping hub for small business customers.
